CG Aria: Hello and welcome! Please introduce yourself to CG Aria’s audience. What year were you born, and what did you study?
Rojan Iraji: Greetings to you and the esteemed readers of CG Aria!
I was born in March 1989 and studied graphic design. Currently, I am pursuing my bachelor’s degree in makeup and mask design.
CG Aria: When did your passion for art begin, and when did you start working professionally?
Rojan Iraji : From childhood, I loved creating things, and this passion stayed with me throughout school. I began painting seriously at the age of 16, and just a year later, I was teaching at my mentor’s academy.
CG Aria: Tell us about your early days in art. How did you start, and what made you choose this path?
My artistic journey began in high school when I enrolled in graphic design. This field fascinated me because of its diversity—I knew I would learn many different skills. I dedicated day and night to mastering it. Towards the end of my studies, I started learning Photoshop on my own since our course focused on manual graphics. However, I quickly realized that to enter the professional market, I had to master digital graphics as well.
CG Aria: What is your area of expertise, and in what artistic fields have you worked?
Rojan Iraji : My primary expertise lies in film poster design and photomontage. In addition to that, I have explored photography, traditional and digital painting, illustration, and even acting in theater and cinema. I firmly believe that a graphic designer benefits greatly from having a broad knowledge of other art forms—it adds depth and creativity to their work.
CG Aria: What major projects have you worked on, and what goals have you set for yourself?
Rojan Iraji : For the past three years, I have been designing film posters and have created over 40 posters for short films, feature films, and documentaries. My very first poster design won the Golden Yas Award at the Yas Film Festival, and another was nominated for the Crystal Simorgh at the 35th Fajr Film Festival. Additionally, my poster for the theater production A Streetcar Named Desire won first place at the Master Nazerzadeh Theater Festival.
Some of the films I have designed posters for include:
🎬 Polaris, Barcode, Valley of Stars, Silent, Hypnosis, Boroa, Temporary, Italy Italy, Paper House, Buffalo, Outside Night, Breath, The Corner, Wheel, Sleepwalker, A Simple Worker is Needed, Unlicensed, Whales, The Possibility of Acid Rain, Chenaristan, Lost Gardens, Memories of a Black Horse, Obesity, 500 Miskals of Gold, Jordan and more.
One of my most exciting collaborations was with Mehran Modiri for the film ۵ PM.
🔹 My ultimate goal? To work on international film posters and expand my artistic footprint beyond borders.
CG Aria: What do you think about the future of CGI in Iran?
Rojan Iraji : I see a bright future for CGI in Iran, provided that talented and creative artists receive the support they deserve. I hope this progress accelerates soon.
CG Aria: What advice do you have for beginners in graphic design?
Rojan Iraji : My advice is simple: keep practicing and observing. Even if you don’t have client projects, create your own design series based on your personal taste. This keeps you motivated and helps you improve much faster. That’s how I pursued my passion for film poster design, and it paid off.
CG Aria: When did you step into acting, and what have you done in this field?
Rojan Iraji : My first brief acting experience was in the TV series Bitter Coffee. Later, I took acting classes with the legendary Hamid Samandarian, which helped me refine my skills professionally.
So far, I have acted in:
🎭 Short Films:
- The Taste of Water
🎭 Theater Productions:
- El Niño (performed in March 2017)
CG Aria: How do you spend your free time? Any favorite hobbies?
I usually spend my time with family and friends. Besides that, I enjoy movies, music, sports, reading, and constant practice to refine my craft.
